- • Adjuvant chemotherapy must still be considered
- investigational, but several studies have shown a modest
- increase in disease-free survival and overall survival.
- • Treatment with radiation or chemotherapy or both before
- surgery has been used on an investigational basis in patients
- with Stage IIIA disease. Preliminary results suggest that
- there may be benefit by combining all three treatments in
- selected cases. Newer trials are giving cisplatin with
- etoposide , vinca alkaloids or other agents together with
- radiation, followed by surgery.
